Polyurethane - The Must Have Chair Upholstery
Those familiar with polyurethane chairs can attest to their long-lasting durability, comfort and rugged good looks. This high-density, puncture-resistant material is quickly becoming the industry-standard in laboratories, factories, offices, hospitals and homes across the United States.
Polyurethane is a completely self-skinning polymer that is stain-resistant, puncture-resistant and remarkably easy to clean. A growing number of chair manufacturers are including polyurethane chairs in their catalog of industrial chairs and stools.
Polyurethane is very moldable, allowing manufacturers to create unique shapes that offer added benefits. For example, elevated dimples or ribbing are commonly molded into the cushion, creating ventilating gaps in the seating surface that promote air flow and prevent moisture buildup.
Clumsy lab technicians will especially appreciate polyurethane's unique ability to resist tearing when encountering sharp objects. Polyurethane chairs are not upholstered in the traditional sense, as the outer skin is just an extension of the inside material; similar to a block of cheese.
For environments requiring high levels of cleanliness, few industrial chair materials offer the sanitary benefits of polyurethane. Polyurethane resists staining caused by grease, chemicals, waste products, and other liquids, and can be cleaned as easily as a countertop. Polyurethane is naturally antibacterial/antimicrobial and odor-resistant, making it ideal for clean room environments.
While polyurethane is inherently comfortable, some industrial polyurethane chairs are more comfortable than others. Backed by over thirty years of research and development, LabTech Seating industrial chairs and stools offer the latest advancements in polyurethane ergonomics. Each LabTech Seating industrial chair is handmade-to-order, and backed by an industry-leading 12 year warranty.
